Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) Vaccination Requirement

MN SNAP is committed to keeping our rabbit patients as safe as possible while in our care. As of Nov. 1, 2022, all rabbit patients must be fully vaccinated against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV), a highly contagious and fatal disease in both pet and wild rabbits.
RHDV vaccination is a series of two shots, three to four weeks apart, and the series must be completed at least two weeks before your rabbit’s surgery. Rabbit owners will be required to show proof of vaccination on or before their appointment with MN SNAP. The Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society hosts a list of Minnesota veterinarians who practice rabbit medicine.
