200,000 Pets and People Served since 2010!

Nonprofit Spay and Neuter Clinic Has Cared for 200,000 Patients
Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MN SNAP), a nonprofit organization based in North Minneapolis, has reached the incredible milestone of providing 200,000 surgeries for the pets of low-income families, shelter and rescue animals, Tribal Nations and community cats. MN SNAP was founded in 2010 to end the suffering and death of Minnesota cats and dogs due to overpopulation by providing high-quality, affordable and accessible spay and neuter services to those in need. Through a mobile surgery clinic and a stationary clinic, MN SNAP has reached families and their pets throughout the state where cost, transportation or the absence of veterinary services is an obstacle to spaying and neutering. MN SNAP is the only Minnesota organization dedicated to year-round mobile spay and neuter surgeries. Using conservative litter estimates based on only our female patients, MN SNAP has prevented an estimated eight million unwanted pet births.Since the organization’s inception in April 2010, MN SNAP has provided more than $1M in grant funds for clients, which means that the services offered are even more reduced in cost or free. In addition, as MN SNAP has now sterilized more than 124,651 owned pets, the nonprofit has saved Minnesota low-income families an enormous amount of money. With the average private clinic surgery cost of $500, and MN SNAP’s average cost of $150, the total savings for families in need is approximately $43,500,000.

Thanks to the support of donors, MN SNAP will continue to offer subsidized surgeries to people with demonstrated financial need. The organization has positively impacted the lives of countless pet owners who were at risk of losing their pets, and sometimes even their homes, especially elderly and low-income families in underserved communities. MN SNAP keeps pets with the people who love them so they can experience the positive effects of the human-animal bond.
