Community Cats

MN SNAP provides low-cost surgeries for community cats.

MN SNAP is proud to support caregivers of community cats by providing low-cost surgeries and partnering in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts!

Feral Cats

A feral cat is not socialized to live with people and may be fearful and avoidant. Generally, feral cats are not adopted into homes.

Barn Cats

Barn cats live outdoors on farms. Barn cats are sometimes approachable but generally are not adopted into homes.

Community Cats

Community cats are often lost or abandoned and receive food and intermittent care from residents in a community.

Trap-Neuter-Return Resources

TNR is the humane and effective approach to improving the lives of community cats. TNR is practiced globally! Cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered and vaccinated. After recovery, the cats are returned to their home.

TNR humanely reduces community cat population; ensures the health of existing cats in the colony; and reduces fighting and spraying behaviors, making them better neighbors!

Did you know: MN SNAP has traps available for caregivers to rent! Contact [email protected] for more information.

See a cat with a tipped ear?

It’s okay! Community cats are ear-tipped during anesthesia. This is the universal symbol to the public that the cat is sterilized and vaccinated.
